The Grass Fed Kids is an amorphous group that hails from Augustana College. Band membership is purposefully ambiguous – anyone who happens to be present and willing is treated as a crucial component to the music making process. Now notorious for switching instruments mid-song, the Grass Fed Kids are all multi-instrumentalists with a flair for improvisation.
The group began four years ago as a jam band, but has since played many venues around the Quad Cities as well as Augustana events geared towards social and environmental activism. The Grass Fed Kids come from a wide variety of musical experiences, ranging from classically oriented ensembles to small jazz groups to marching bands. With their eclectic blend of folk, blues, rock, bluegrass, and beat poetry, the Grass Fed Kids aspire to keep creating music until the end of time and beyond.
This EP was recorded Sunday, May 6th at River Drive's Young House Studio in downtown Rock Island, Illinois. Eight Kids made noises that night, and It became clear that the absolute capacity of the Young House Studio is eight rowdy musicians and one caffeinated engineer. In this case, Mr. Lars Rehnberg engineered, mixed, and mastered. Everything you hear is live in the room - there are no overdubs.
